Maestra Heredia

¡Hola! me llamo Maestra Cristina Heredia. I am from East Chicago, Indiana. I have been in elementary education for 21 years now. I am an alumnus of Purdue University Calumet and Indiana University. The majority of my years have been spent in ESL working in my hometown of East Chicago. The training has served me well since I use what I’ve been practicing to teach Spanish now. I am a firm believer in the benefits of bilingualism and am honored to be a part of such a wonderful program like the Lincoln Spanish Immersion program.

So how did this lifelong Hoosier end up a Michigander? It all started with a song. Music is what first brought me to Southeast Michigan in July of 2012 for a summer show. I fell in love with the area and made it my 2014 resolution to find a job and move here. The timing could not have been more perfect for me to find this program and such wonderful neighbors in Ypsilanti. In addition to music, the fiber arts are another of my passions. If I’m not listening to live music somewhere, I’m probably knitting or crocheting something. Most likely, I’m doing both.
